General Information

What are the ingredients used in your products?

Every formula starts with a skin need, not an ingredient list. We use cold-pressed plant oils, unrefined raw butters, and homemade botanical infusions — calendula, chamomile, yarrow, nettle, and others we grow or forage ourselves in Wicklow. Some soaps include Irish raw honey or goat milk. Our candles are made with natural soy or coconut and rapeseed wax. What we never use: synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates, palm oil, or harsh detergents. Full details on our Our Ingredients page.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Yes. Nothing we make is tested on animals — ever.

Is everything vegan?

Most are. A few soaps include Irish raw honey or goat milk — both ethically sourced and chosen for what they do for skin. Every product is clearly labelled so you can see exactly what you are buying.

Do you offer wholesale or bulk orders?

Yes. For wholesale, visit our Become a Stockist page. For wedding and event orders, visit our Wedding & Event Favours page. For anything else, email mamo@mamolife.ie.

Can I request custom labels or packaging for gifts or events?

Yes. We offer custom labelling for weddings, corporate gifts, and events. Email mamo@mamolife.ie with your date, guest numbers, and what you have in mind — or visit our Wedding & Event Favours page for more details.

Is your home fragrance collection safe to use around pets?

Our candles and wax melts are made with natural wax and phthalate-free fragrance oils. That said, we recommend burning any scented product in a well-ventilated room and keeping pets away during use. For dogs specifically, we make an unscented natural care range — formulated to the same standard as our skincare.

Candles

What wax do you use in your candles?

100% natural soy wax for jar and pillar candles, and a coconut and rapeseed blend for tea lights and wax melts. No paraffin, no blends. Hand-poured in Wicklow.

What wicks do you use?

Unbleached cotton wicks, free from metals and designed to work beautifully with soy wax for a steady, clean burn.

Why does my candle top look bumpy or frosted?

That is soy wax doing what soy wax does — it cools unevenly and can develop a textured or frosted surface. It has no effect on how the candle burns or smells.

My candle is tunnelling – what can I do?

On the first burn, always let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This sets the memory of the candle. If tunnelling has already started, wrap a strip of foil loosely around the rim and burn for a few hours to even it out.

Does a candle lose its scent over time?

Fragrance does fade gradually, especially if stored in direct sunlight or heat. Keep your candle somewhere cool and dark when not in use and it will hold its scent well.

Why is there discoloration inside my candle jar?

A natural interaction between the wax and fragrance oil over time. It does not affect performance or safety.

Can I burn my decorative pillar candle?

Yes — burn in one-hour intervals only, on a stable heat-resistant tray, and never leave unattended. Keep away from draughts.

Why does my decorative candle have wax drips?

Pillar candles will drip if burned near a draught or for too long. Always place on a tray and keep away from open windows.

I accidentally cut my cotton wick too short, and now it won’t light – what should I do?

Let the wax cool completely, then carefully scoop a small amount of wax from around the base of the wick to expose enough to light. A wick dipper can help reposition it before the wax sets next time.

What is “frosting,” and why does it happen?

Frosting is a white crystalline effect that can appear on the surface of soy wax candles. It is a natural characteristic of soy wax and does not affect the burn or scent.

Why does it matter that your candles are free from phthalates and parabens?

Phthalates and parabens are synthetic chemicals commonly used in cheaper fragrance oils that can release harmful compounds when burned. Ours are free from both — so what you smell is just the fragrance, nothing else.

Wax Melts

How do I use wax melts?

Place a wax melt in your warmer and let it melt slowly, releasing its fragrance into your space. Replace the melt once the scent fades.

Is there a difference between an electric warmer and a tealight warmer?

Yes. Electric warmers provide a more even heat and steady scent release, while tealight warmers can produce a stronger scent throw but may require more monitoring. Both work beautifully with our melts!

How do I change the wax melts in my warmer?

To change wax melts, let the wax cool and harden, then gently pop it out of the warmer. You can also remove it by warming the base slightly and using a paper towel to wipe out the softened wax.

What’s the best way to store wax melts?

Keep your wax melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve their scent. Our packaging is designed to maintain freshness.

They look yummy! Can I eat them?

Though they smell delicious, our wax melts are not edible. They’re for fragrance only, so please keep them out of reach of children and pets.

The shimmer on my wax melt seems separated from the wax. Is that normal?

Yes, this is completely normal. The shimmer may settle slightly over time, but it will distribute evenly once melted.

I bought a sample box, but one scent seems harder to smell. Is this normal?

Some fragrances may be subtler than others. Scents like vanilla or lavender may have a softer aroma compared to stronger notes like citrus or spice. Try melting them in a smaller room for a more concentrated fragrance.

Soaps and Face Bars

What is cold-process soap, and why is it beneficial?

Cold-process soap preserves the natural glycerine produced during saponification, making it extra moisturizing. This method also retains the nutrients in our homemade infusion oils and herbal teas, providing a luxurious and nourishing cleanse.

Can I use your face bars on sensitive skin?

Our face bars are made with gentle, natural ingredients, but it’s always good to patch-test if you’re prone to sensitivities. Each bar is free from artificial additives, focusing on natural goodness.

How long does a bar of soap last?

With proper care, our soap bars can last a month or longer. Letting them dry between uses and storing them in a well-drained soap dish will help maximize their life.

Why does my soap have slight imperfections?

Each bar is handmade, so slight variations are natural. These little imperfections add to the charm and authenticity of our products!
